Manchester United who have been chasing a long list of superstars and have recently received a blow to their plans of signing German World Cup winner Thomas Muller. Bayern Munich have rejected a gigantic £45m bid made by the Premier League side, according to reports from Dailystar. The former Bayern manager Louis van Gaal was keen on bringing the 25 year old to Old Trafford, whom he admires a lot and feels can be a quality addition to his side.
A major feature about Muller’s game is his adaptability and how he fits into the side, providing a high quality attacking option. He is versatile enough to play in midfield or attack, or even out wide. LvG who has seemed insistent on the 3-5-2 formation over the last few games, might employ him as one of the main attacking mid-fielders in the side. This would mean that he might replace Spanish international and former Chelsea man Juan Mata who, despite scoring quite a few goals for United, has not been able to leave his mark on the manager and the fans.
He never seems to have that same impact on a game as some of the other United superstars seem to do, even if he does manage to create moves or score goals. Instead at times, he plays indifferently, while other times, he gets dispossessed by over playing. This has been one of the reasons that the Spaniard has been in and out of the Red Devil’s team since his move to Old Trafford.
Now if Muller joins the team and replaces Mata, it could have a positive impact on the United side who have expressed their firm ambitions to win trophies in the near future. What happens next, would depend on how talks proceed between the two clubs as the Premier League side looks for more meaningful additions to their already formidable squad.
