Chelsea has managed to sign Colombian attacking midfielder Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina in the dying hours of the winter transfer window. Cuadrado has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract. As a part of the deal, Chelsea have also sent Mohammad Salah to Fiorentina on loan till the end of the season.
Cuadrado was seemed to be happy and was thankful for being given this opportunity. He also hailed Chelsea as a big club and honestly admitted that it is like a dream to join the Blues. He also expressed happiness about the belief Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has in him.
Cuadrado has also been given the jersey number 23 after his desired kit number 11 is already being used by Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.
It was also reported in Daily Star that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has expressed his views on Chelsea signing Cuadrado. Henry said that Cuadrado is a special player and he is a very good signing for Chelsea going into the crucial part of the season.
“Cuadrado is a special player. He’s a proper winger. You don’t see it anymore, but he gets down the lines and puts in crosses for the striker. I’m guessing they’re bringing him to Chelsea to put him in the first-team. He can break in, he’s a special talent,” Henry said.
Cuadrado, so far has 37 international caps and five goals for Colombia and played a big role in his country’s impressive 2014 World Cup campaign. He also led the assists chart along with Germany’s Toni Kroos with 4 assists to his name. He signed for Fiorentina from Udinese in 2012 after having a loan spell with Lecce.
