Arsenal are set to face Tottenham at the weekend as they travel to White Hart Lane. The Gunners will be hoping to extend their three game winning streak in the Premier League to a fourth consecutive win as they look to face a Spurs side that has been in great form recently as well. The race for a Champions League spot has been intense this season with Arsenal currently at fifth and their North London rivals at sixth, with a difference of just two points between the two sides.
Good news for Arsenal is that their English striker Danny Welbeck is fit to return for the derby, after a month’s absence due to injuries. The England international, who has missed the entire month with a problem to his thigh has returned to full training and is set to be in the squad for the trip to Tottenham. That would come as a huge boost for manager Arsene Wenger who also expects to have Alexis Sanchez back in his squad as well. The Chilean international was also not a part of the squad for Sunday’s 5-0 hammering of Aston Villa because of a thigh injury.
Welbeck, who made a £16m summer move to the Emirates from Manchester United, has managed to already score four goals in the Premier League for Arsenal and his return gives Wenger a wealth of options up front. Both teams will be looking to battle it out as rival clubs will be looking at the game eagerly with their Champions League aspirations hanging in the balance as well. At the moment, Arsenal are tied with fourth place Southampton and will be looking to put more pressure on their rivals with a away win over Spurs. On the other hand, a win for Spurs would put them above Arsenal in the table, which would put pressure on The Gunners and Wenger, who has not failed to deliver a Champions League finish, since he joined the club in 1996.
