According to reports in Daily Star, Manchester United almost signed a French target on the deadline day of the 2015 winter transfer window because of the delay in their paper work. French magazine France Football claimed that a deal for the 16-year-old Valenciennes defender Dayot Upamecano was in place and had already been agreed by both the parties. But the admin work was not in time due to which the deal was off.
The report also claimed that all the terms and conditions was agreed by both the clubs but the formalities are not ready on time. It also quoted that Manchester United agreed to pay a fee of around £400,000 (could rise to £650,000 with add-ons). Reportedly, Upamecano received a call to tour of United facilities last Week ahead of a proposed move. It is almost sure that United will pursuit their chase of the teen defender in the summer transfer window, who is playing in Ligue 2 in France.
Apart from Manchester United, their premier league rivals Arsenal, French heavy weights Paris St-Germain are also chasing the defender. Manchester United, in spite of being third in the Premier League are facing a crisis in their back line as their defence is very inexperienced. even though a 16-year-old star will not be an instant solution to their defensive problems but Upamecano could be a good signing for the future.
