Premier League giants Manchester United and Champions League holders Real Madrid are in the chase for a high quality goalkeeper. Both clubs may have a different set of reasons due to which they wish to sign a keeper, but their target at the moment is the same. The European giants at the moment are looking to target Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, who has been an outstanding goalkeeper, since his times with French side Lyon. Manchester United are looking to add backup to their goalkeeping department, just in case David de Gea departs, whereas, Real Madrid are still looking to find that perfect replacement for their veteran goalie Iker Casillas.
Now, despite all these rumours, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that his goalkeeper is quite happy at the club and has no plans of a move away from White Hart Lane. The French captain, who signed a new five year contract with the North London side last summer has been sensational this season. Reports flying in suggest that the Spanish side has already lined up a £25m move for the 28-year-old, while The Red Devils are also monitoring Lloris as a possible replacement for de Gea, despite having just signed former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes in January. However, Pochettino still insists that the club have no plans of selling the coveted ‘keeper and hopes he can achieve his ambitions of playing in the Champions League with Spurs, in the near future. In an interview, when asked about the speculations related to Lloris, the manager said,
“Hugo is one of the best keepers in the world and I have recognized that.”
“His contribution is magnificent, Hugo is very happy here with us. It’s difficult for these kind of clubs to get him because he’s happy here.”
“Maybe in the future he can play in the Champions League with Tottenham.”
