Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea’s agent has denied any speculations suggesting that a deal has been agreed between the goalkeeper and Spanish giants Real Madrid, regarding his move to the La Liga. His representative further revealed that he is in talks currently with The Red Devils over a new contract. The Spaniard has a just over a year remaining on his current deal and has been superb this season which has been the reason why he is still being linked with a move to the Bernabeu.
Also with the signing of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, it was being reported that de Gea had received a new impetus to move away from the Premier League. There had been some rumours coming from his homeland which have suggested that Real have already come to an agreement with the 24-year-old and his future lies, with the current Champions League holders. Real look to find a suitable replacement for veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas and consider de Gea as the perfect man to do so.
However, recent news suggest that Jorge Mendes, who represents the United star, has come out and rubbished all those claims and revealed that his client is ready to commit his long-term future to the Manchester side. This also confirms that the Spanish international is happy and Old Trafford and does not wish to leave, which will put a dent in Real’s hopes of signing him in the summer. Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser on Sunday evening in an interview, when asked about the topic, Mendes said,
“It’s not true that the deal is done.”
“I am negotiating his contract renewal but we haven’t signing anything yet. As of the moment, we will see what happens.
“We’re holding talks and at this moment it seems he could continue with United, but as I say, we haven’t signed anything yet.”
