French champions Paris Saint-Germain meet Chelsea in the round of 16 in the Champions League this season and Laurent Blanc, unlike last season does not wish to stay away from playing “mind games”. PSG were beaten late last year and knocked out of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge by a Demba Ba goal, after a superb win in Paris.
PSG are at an apparent disadvantage this coming week and Laurent Blanc announced this after his side’s 2-0 Coupe de France win over Nantes. The French outfit play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday in the first leg, of their two legged Champions League tie. The Ligue 1 champions also face Caen in Ligue 1 on Saturday while Chelsea do not play this weekend after being knocked out of the FA Cup against Bradford in the last round. On being questioned by the French press, Blanc made sure to reference the Bradford loss and taunted Mourinho, as a build-up to their huge upcoming clash.
He said,
“Jose Mourinho is a genius. He lost his cup match 4-2 and he has given himself a week to prepare for his match against us in the Champions League.
“I can only imagine the tsunami and the turbulence that we would have had here if we had lost the same kind of match.
“It would have been said that the PSG coach did not understand anything. He is very strong, Jose.”
