With the team not playing at their peak, questions are being asked about not only the players at Manchester United but the coach as well, what should United do to make them better for next season?
But in all seriousness, there are a lot of things which need to be fixed at Manchester United. The fans have always seen Manchester United play great attacking football rather than just nick results. The team cannot seem to gel and their play is disjointed. Louis Van Gaal has not been able to get the best out of the team, which consists of Rooney, Mata, Falcao and Di Maria, to name a few players. One thing is certain, Louis Van Gaal does have the support of the board for now, he is delivering at the moment with Manchester United sitting third in the Premier League and looking to qualify for the UEFA Champions League but certainly things can be better for the club.
Another transfer window to revamp or consolidate?
Van Gaal was given a sizeable transfer kitty to play with in the last transfer window and reports suggest he would be getting a similar, if not larger amount to spend in the next transfer window. Manchester United have been linked with a host of players in a number of positions to make the squad better.
The changes would have to be massive in this team, although they have signed good players in Herrera, Di Maria and Blind to name a few, they still haven’t clicked and Van Gaal has not found the right formation to play his best players and get the best out of him. Rooney has been deployed a lot of times in the midfield position when his best position is playing as an attacker.
The likes of Van Persie and Falcao need to be shipped out; Van Persie does not seem to be the same player he was at Arsenal even though he has been working with the Dutch national team manager. Falcao was brought in as an expensive loan signing and he probably will be shipped back to Monaco, it just has not worked out for the Colombian striker.
The defence needs a major overhaul, time and time again the Manchester United defence looked disjointed and it could be the final few games for Smalling, Jones and Evans. The trio weren’t the best last season under Moyes and they have not developed well enough under Van Gaal, time might be up for the British defenders at Manchester United.
The likes of Javier Hernandez, Tom Cleverly and Nani, all out on loan might not have a future at Manchester United either. Although Cleverly and Hernandez were seen as bright spots, they seem surplus to requirements and major rebuilding is required not only for the starting XI but also for the squad.
The one position which is sorted for United and they need to ensure that they keep the player is David De Gea. The Spaniard has been the only bright spark in an otherwise average Manchester United team and keeping the Spanish star is the key to Manchester United making it into the top 4 and building for the future that is if Van Gaal stays.
