Louis Van Gaal has been under a lot of pressure from critics and fans in recent times, as Manchester United have not displayed the best of forms, in recent weeks. United are in third place in the Premier League table at the moment and are hoping to secure a top four finish, with ambitions of playing in the Champions League, next season.
However, Van Gaal has seen his set of flops at Old Trafford, with certain big players failing to perform. The Dutchman also hit back at rival Sam Allardyce for claiming United were long ball merchants. Van Gaal has tried various combinations and has tried at least six different formations in a bid to get the best out of his side. The Red Devil’s manager still admits he still hasn’t got the combinations right and said,
“No, I don’t think so. And that is also the difficulty of the system.”
“I have played now already five or six systems and I am looking still for the balance.”
“But this system is more attractive than normal and I can play with more attacking players.”
“That’s the reason I am doing that. In spite of the fact that we are looking for the balance, our results are not bad and our defensive organisation is not bad, we also score a lot of goals.”
“So, I cannot say that I am very disappointed about that. But we have to do it now, and normally you have to do it pre-season.”
“I don’t worry about it, it’s not so interesting. I am used to it and I think all the players are used to it because they are not first time professional football players.
“Maybe some players are affected, but normally most of the time it does not affect me or the players.”
Manchester United face Preston in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday.
