The biggest game in the Premier League is here, Manchester United travel to Anfield to take on the in-form side in the Premier League. The last time the two sides met it was United who came away with a 3-0 victory but that was also the turning point for Liverpool, they were earlier separated by 10 points but Liverpool’s amazing run has cut that lead down to just 2 points and they could overhaul United with a win on Sunday.
Steven Gerrard and Lucas are back in the squad but the game might not need them as Liverpool have been doing the business without them, we predict the squad which Liverpool could take out to play United, easily the biggest game of the season for these two clubs.
Simon Mignolet
6 clean sheets in a row in away games, Mignolet becomes the first Liverpool goalkeeper to achieve that feat in the Premier League and the Belgian has been nothing short of brilliant since his return to the side, Liverpool’s number 1, no doubt.
Emre Can
A player who has grown from strength to strength, he might not have been the first choice to play as a CB but he has grown in this role. His passing, strength and reading of the game are top notch and the best part is that, he still has a lot of time to develop.
Martin Skrtel
A Liverpool defence cannot be imagined without Skrtel, he was almost sold a couple of seasons ago but now he is the mainstay of the defence.
Mamadou Sakho
Another player who had a rather shaky start to his Liverpool career but now Sakho is one of the best defenders in the league, he might still look a bit clumsy with the ball at his feet but no one doubts his strength.
Joe Allen
Joe Allen is a bit of a mystery, no one really knows what he does but when he plays well, Liverpool win and his performances over the past few weeks has been great, he should start against United.
Jordan Henderson
Henderson might be Liverpool’s captain in the absence of Gerrard and his form should ensure that Gerrard does not make it into the starting XI for the big game, if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.
Adam Lallana
Lallana probably has the best touch and control at Liverpool and slowly but surely he is starting to show just how important and good he actually is for the club.
Alberto Moreno
Moreno might not have thought that he will become such a regular mainstay in the Liverpool team but his ability to attack and defend as a wingback is exactly the thing that Liverpool need and he will have to be at his best if he needs to take on Di Maria.
Raheem Sterling
Contract talks might stall the progress of Raheem’s future at Liverpool but there is no doubt he will start the game as his pace can cause United’s defence all sorts of problems.
Philippe Coutinho
The Mercurial Brazilian hasn’t been at his best for a couple of weeks but he is the one player that can change the game in a second and that is why he must start for the Reds.
Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge might not be looking at his sharpest but this could be the game which changes it all. He would be relishing to go against United and this big game could signal a return in form for the striker.
