Arsene Wenger has warned Manchester City to back off in their hunt for Jack Wilshere, as he still believes that the midfielder can still have big impact on club’s season run-in. The reigning Premier League champions were preparing to make a summer bid for the England international, but the French manager cleared that the Gunners had no longer any need to sell their stars. The north London side have already lost a list of players to the Manchester based club. Players like Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna, Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Gael Clichy have signed for City over the recent years, who are now in the chase for Wilshere.
However, Wenger dismissed such rumours and stated,
“We are not in a position anymore where we have to sell our best players.”
“Everybody can have a big impact until the end of the season, Jack included,” said Wenger. “Every player who doesn’t play is very frustrated when he cannot perform. Abou Diaby has been out for a year, Theo Walcott has been out for a year. That’s difficult cases and Wilshere has played games this year. He has played many games. He was out, but not for as long as Walcott or Diaby.”
Further speaking about his first team absentees, the Frenchman added,
“Diaby, Arteta and Wilshere came through the game on Tuesday well. They were at a good level physically and they should all be available from now on until the end of the season, hopefully”
