Arsenal skipper Mikel Arteta stated in an interview that he is on the verge of returning to first-team action soon and could be available for their clash against Chelsea, next weekend. The Spanish midfielder has been out injured for quite some time now and has missed out on his side’s superb run of form. The 33-year-old superstar has managed only six Premier League starts this season and has been out on the sidelines since November when the Gunners lost to Manchester United at the Emirates.
Arteta gave the fans an update on his fitness and the former Everton midfielder in his interview told Sky Sports,
“I am not far. I have done five or six sessions with the first team and I am feeling good.”
“I don’t feel I am ready to start, but I’m almost there. It has been a long process, I don’t want to rush it.
“I made a mistake at the end of the rehab (from my groin problem), but I think I will be back soon.”
