It is being reported now by German newspaper Bild that Manchester United have officially made a €30 (£21m) bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels. The 26-year-old centre-back is one of United’s top summer targets and looks set to leave the Bundesliga outfit. Jurgen Klopp’s departure would also be a factor in pushing Hummels for an exit and the report stated that an opening bid has been made.
Dortmund are hoping for a figure closer to $45m (£32m) for the World Cup winning superstar who has a contract with the club that expires in 2017. With two Bundesliga titles to his name with Dortmund in 2010-11 and 2011-12, plus a German Cup success in 2011-12 and the Champions League final at Wembley in 2013, the German defender is one of the best at present. Earlier this season, Hummels had stated his desire to move abroad. He said,
“I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well-being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.”
