Chelsea will now look to make a move for £20m-rated Marseille star Giannelli Imbula. The Blues could have signed the youngster for a mere price of £1m two seasons ago and will now look to finalize a deal for his services once again. However, at that point of time, their plans were foiled by the player’s father and agent Willy Ndangi. In an interview, Ndangi had told L’Equipe,
“You know how much I refused from Chelsea? A million euros (£800,000).”
“About a month before Giannelli signed with Marseille, I had a meeting with a Chelsea official.”
“But their people wanted a stranglehold on the player for five years.”
The Frenchman joined the Ligue 1 outfit in 2013 and has made a total of 60 appearances since then and scored thrice. He could be a valuable addition to Jose Mourinho’s side, who are on the verge of winning the Premier League title once again.
