Manchester United have been linked with moves for many high quality players from all across Europe for the upcoming transfer window. Louis van Gaal knows he is in need of some match winning players, as his side gets set to return to Champions League football.
The Dutch manager has a list of stars on his radar and is trying to complete a move for those short-listed superstars this summer.
One player linked last summer with the Red Devils was Luiz Gustavo and many British newspapers claimed that United wanted to buy the midfielder, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Gustavo joined Wolfsburg in 2013 after failing to impress at Bayern Munich and secure a first-team spot often. Also, Van Gaal was the Bayern manager who bought him from Hoffenheim and gave him the opportunity to play for the Bundesliga champions.
The 27 year old Brazilian spoke to this week’s edition of SportBild, when asked how he would fancy playing for one of several huge clubs linked with him. Apart from United, domestic rivals Chelsea were also keen on a move.
Meanwhile, former club Bayern, La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, were also some of the other clubs interested. Gustavo stated, “If I were to be able to once again have the chance to go to such a club, then that would be like a gift to me. However, I also know what I have at VfL. I am incredibly happy here.”
Further talking about his career, he said, “A childhood dream come true. But I do not want the respect of others just because Luiz Gustavo is a good footballer. I want respect because I am a good person. I know where I come from, that all I have achieved is only with hard work.”
