Done Deal! Manchester United Winger Set To Make Permanent Move

The Portuguese press have now admitted defeat in their quest to get Nani back on a permanent basis. The Manchester United star spent the past season on loan at Sporting Lisbon, while Marcos Rojo made the switch to Old Trafford. It was expected that the 28 year old winger would return to England and could have featured in Louis van Gaal’s squad.

However, that does not seem to be the case now, as the Dutch manager feels that the Portugal international is surplus to his needs.

Sporting and then their domestic rivals Benfica were both monitoring him, but now their interest might be in vain.

The next story compares the financial status of Portuguese football with that of Turkish football. Nani is now off to join Fenerbahce and Diario de Noticias say he’ll fly out to Istanbul soon to complete the deal, have his medical and sign contracts.

As reported, Nani will get a four year contract and will be making €4m per season, while United will be getting a fee of around €8.5m.

Nani himself ruled Benfica out despite refusing to do before which would assure the fans that he is off to Turkey. He stated, “The fans do not want players who love to go to the rival club and it’s acceptable hear the comments (of criticism). I’ve played at Sporting, it’s a very special club and I do not think about playing at any other club in Portugal.”
