According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Manchester United have made a €30m verbal agreement with Benfica for the sale of Nicolas Gaitan. The 27 year old midfield superstar has been linked with the Red Devils for quite a few years now, though a deal to Old Trafford never really happened all this while.
O Jogo added that United’s £21m agreement was on the condition of them selling Angel Di Maria this summer and many speculations confirmed Gaitan to be his replacement.
The Portuguese newspaper added that as the former Real Madrid man might be leaving England now and United will have to battle it out with Atletico Madrid to sign the 27-year-old.
O Jogo further said that Louis van Gaal’s side need to hurry up if they want to complete an agreement, with the Argentine international wanting a quick move to settle his future.
With all said and done, the attacking midfielder could be a superb addition to the Dutchman’s squad, if a deal goes through.
