La Liga giants Real Madrid have rejected a £20m offer from the champions of England, Chelsea, for midfielder Isco, as per reports from the Daily Mirror. The Spanish international is seen as a potential replacement for Brazilian youngster Oscar, who is wanted by Juventus.
Newly appointed manager Rafael Benitez sees the 23-year-old as a key part of his plans at the Bernabeu and has no intention of allowing him to leave the club. The former European champions have no interest in selling their 23 year old attacking midfielder, who joined them from Spanish rivals Malaga in 2013.
The Spaniard has since then made a total of 66 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and was wanted by quite a few clubs due to his impressive performances.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is looking to add more quality to his attack, as he wishes to defend his Premier League title and challenge for the Champions League in the upcoming season and Isco would surely be a superb addition to his current squad.
Oscar, although is a talented midfielder seems to lose his way during the second half of the season and Mourinho has to rely on his fringe players to cover for the Brazilian. The likes of Fabregas and Willain make excellent cover for Oscar’s position, but the presence of someone like Isco could really bolster their midfield in terms of depth and talent, which will make it easier for Mourinho to shape his team to fight for the club’s second UCL trophy.
