Liverpool have been frustrated at times by the inability of their strikers to produce the expected final finishing touches in front of the opposition goal in quite a few games. The Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has been experimenting with various combinations upfront and the summer signings have not responded well to his need for a proper striking force.
Both Balotelli and Lambert have not been as effective as they were expected to be, when bought and recent speculations have surrounded the Italian with a possible move away from Anfield. Serie A side Parma have shown interest in acquiring the services of the Italian forward and are said to be leading the race for him. Club president Ermir Kodra has stated in an interview that the side are already in advanced talks to bring Balotelli back to his native country. Other clubs were also interested in the 24 year old, including current Italian champions Juventus. But, Rodgers has recently stated that the former Manchester City player does indeed have a future at the club.
Rodgers said,
“We will give Mario every chance, We brought him in here for this season to give him every chance to show consistently that he can play for a team at the top of this level. It’s been a difficult period for him but he’s a good boy. He wants to fight for his chance here.
“I’ve seen some bits this morning suggesting that’s him done here, That’s not the case at all. I’ve shown in my time here that if players who have been out the fold for various reasons work hard every day in training and show intensity and focus then they have every chance of getting back in the side and staying there.”
