There is some good news for the Manchester United fans as their goal keeper David De Gea will decide his future at Manchester United and is most likely to stay in the club for some more years. His agent Jorge Mendez also confirmed that De Gea might stay at Old Trafford. He also said that his contract expires at the end of next season and he is likely to sign a new contract with the Red Devils, the Dailystar reported.
His transfer to Real Madrid has took the centre-stage in the winter transfer window as the 10 time European Champions are seeing De Gea as the long-term replacement for club legend Iker Casillas. There were even some heavy rumours that Real Madrid are willing to swap their Welsh winger Gareth Bale for De Gea and some cash. The rumour started to gain more attention after United signed former Barcelona goalie Victor Valdes in the transfer window.
De Gea’s manager Jorge Mendez, who also manages the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Radamel Falcao etc. has told BBC that,
“He has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchester. The player will decide, but he’s happy there, at the moment.”
He is an integral part of Louis Van Gaal’s side which is aiming to qualify for the Champions league by finishing the league in top 4 places, which they failed to do so last season. They have a bright chance of winning the FA Cup as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City were knocked out in the fourth round itself.
De Gea was one of the very few heroes for United last season and he is the prime reason why United are still in the third position of the table in spite of having a pathetic defence.
