Manchester United could be set to lose out their number one keeper De Gea to Real Madrid at the end of the season, as suggested by recent reports.
The Spaniard has just one year left on his current contract and has avoided signing a contract extension, knowing that the European Champions want him to replace veteran keeper Iker Casillas. The main thing that the report suggests is that his team-mates now fear that the 24 year old could be off to Spain in the summer.
Sections of the Red Devils’ dressing-room are totally convinced that De Gea will leave the club after spending four years at Old Trafford. The former Atletico Madrid keeper had moved to the Premier League giants in 2011 and has made a total of 127 appearances for the club. If the Spanish international does leave it would be a huge blow for Louis van Gaal’s side, though they have already signed former Barcelona man Victor Valdes as suitable backup. Spanish TV channels have already made claims that De Gea is off to Real this summer and it would surely be interesting to see where this superstar keeper plays next season.
