Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund have now confirmed that midfield superstar Ilkay Gundogan has asked to leave the club at the end of the season. Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder, along with Germain champions Bayern Munich. Bayern are even willing to even offer Mario Gotze back to Dortmund to complete the deal.
Sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed that Gundogan, who has a year left on his deal has requested to leave in the summer. However, Zorc insisted that the club are keen on keeping another United target, Mats Hummels. He said in an interview,
“Ilkay told us he wants to leave this summer.”
“But we have received no offers from any clubs for any of our players as of now.”
“Every player always has to make decisions on their future but, for us, the intention is clear to keep Mats.”
