Spanish newspaper Sport had previously shed light on a story which must have shocked some of the Manchester United fans. The report had suggested that the danger of a transfer ban on Real Madrid would force them to push for a deal for David De Gea. Further, it was stated that a deal had been agreed in principle between the player and the club and the move would be completed in the summer.
Other English and Spanish reports had also made claims that the Spaniard was close to signing a renewal with the Red Devils. Marca, on the other hand were focusing on what a transfer may cost the European champions and other details about the potential deal.
Sport added in their Tuesday edition, an article from The Sun addressing the fact that De Gea’s agents and United had agreed a new deal, this time around. The deal was not yet signed and the formalities should be completed soon.
Jorge Mendes was responsible for making it happen after continuous meaningful talks with Louis van Gaal’s side, to keep the Spanish stopper at Old Trafford.
