Online reports revealed on Tuesday that newly crowned English champions Chelsea were in talks with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid over a £30m transfer for Koke. The newspaper revealed that talks were being held between the clubs as The Blues did not wish to pay Koke’s full €60m buyout clause.
Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis could be heading back to Spain, as a partial payment for the Spanish international. The defender is currently priced at £14m and the west London side would pay cash along with it.
Brazilian outlet Lancenet has added that this would not be the first time that Filipe Luis has been linked with a move back to his former club. The 29 year old defender has failed to impress manager Jose Mourinho and could be heading for a possible exit from Stamford Bridge.
Spanish newspaper AS had reported in April that Chelsea’s Michael Emenalo watching an Atletico Madrid match and Mourinho is surely fond of Koke. Well, if Chelsea do manage to sign Koke, it would be a huge boost for their already formidable squad, though whom the youngster would replace in the first-team remains to be seen.
