Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are now looking to complete a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, after the Frenchman was persuaded to leave Spain by Portuguese ‘super-agent’ Jorge Mendes, as per reports. Griezmann has been superb in recent times and Jose Mourinho’s side have been keeping tabs on him in recent months. The Blues want to add more quality attackers as Didier Drogba enters the final stretch of his career and Diego Costa still struggles with injuries.
Mendes’ clients include both Mourinho and Costa and is looking to get this deal done with the La Liga champions. According to Onda Cero he has already convinced the 24-year-old to join the west London club at the end of the current season.
The deal will now depend on negotiations between the two European giants and Mourinho’s side agreeing a fee with Atletico. The two clubs enjoy a strong relationship and negotiations could be completed quickly. The French international has a release clause of £43m in his current deal and Atletico will not accept anything else for him. The superstar forward has scored 22 league goals this season and Filipe Luis could be offered as part of the deal.
