Arsenal Football Club is world famous for their impeccable youth facilities. Many of the Gunner’s greatest players have come straight out of their youth academy. Amongst the list of famous academy graduates are Tony Adams, Cesc Fabregas, Ashley Cole and Jack Wilshere.
Amongst the current crop of Arsenal academy members are several players with the potential to play regular top-flight football. In amongst these youngsters is one name that stands out above the rest, the 17-year-old German midfielder Serge Gnabry.
Gnabry has represented Germany at youth level and has already been dubbed to have the potential to be better than Cesc Fabregas. Just looking at this clip you can see the raw pace possessed by the youngster and his eye for goal is clear as well. Serge has already established himself in the reserves and has played this season for the first team against Cologne.
Being able to play right across the midfield likens him to the Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain style of play. Many experts have claimed Gnabry is on the brink of a first team start, but with the current clamour for places in the Arsenal midfield and Jack Wilshere to come back, we might not be seeing him in the premier league this season. However, next weeks League Cup tie against Coventry could be a perfect chance for Gnabry to get used to the roar of the Emirates.
