With the January transfer window now just a month away, Premier League managers will have their targets scouted and possible offers lined up for new players.
People can talk about needing to strengthen at the back or wanting to bolster their midfield, but the players all fans want to see their team sign are the ones who score goals. Strikers are the players who bring the most excitement with them because of their ability to find the net, which also makes them the most expensive to obtain in regards to transfer fees and wages.
They are highly valued for a good reason though. A team with the best goalkeeper, defence and midfield in the world may never concede, but they may also never win. Scoring goals is ultimately what football is all about. There is no doubt that Arsenal’s 7-5 thriller at Reading last month had more viewers watching the highlights than their recent 0-0 draw at Aston Villa.
With a scoring record of better than a goal every other game, Radamel Falcao is the latest striker to be strongly linked with a move to the Premier League. The 26-year-old Colombian is currently plying his trade with Atletico Madrid in La Liga, where he is overshadowed only by arguably the two greatest players in the game today: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Chelsea already have one former Atletico Madrid man at the head of their attack but, with Fernando Torres continuing to misfire, they could be about to sign another one.
