On reflection this has been a pretty good season.
For the neutral its not so great having the league title decided by March but there have been some pretty fantastic moments over the last seven months or so.
I know the season isn’t over yet but you’ll be hard pushed to find a more bonkers game of football than the one which took place when Arsenal traveled to Reading to face the Royals in the Capital One Cup.
Arsene Wenger has be known to use the competition to experiment with his fringe players and this game was no different as Arsenal’s ‘B’ team got a run out.
Incredibly, though, Reading stormed to a 4-0 lead, 3-0 up in the opening 20 minutes, and it looked as though Arsenal were done and dusted. A goal from Theo Walcott just on the stroke of half-time signalled the start of a brilliant comeback.
It took until the final minute of stoppage time but Arsenal completed the remarkable comeback through another Walcott and on the game went to extra time.
During the extra period something truly extraordinary took place that will not be seen again for many, many moons: Marouanne Chamakh scored two pretty decent goals.
I couldn’t believe it either and I almost fainted when he chipped Reading’s keeper for Arsenal’s 7th. Madness. Great game, though, and it ended with a FIFA scoreline of 7-5.
