Manchester United need something special to happen this month if they are to retain their Premier League crown. Slumped in seventh place in the table, United are supposedly ready to spend big, and they don’t come much bigger in terms of ambition than Juventus pairing Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba – both of whom are to be bid for, according to the Daily Mail. But where would they fit in?
It would be a case of eating humble pie should Pogba return to Old Trafford as the Red Devils let him walk out of the club for a free not so long ago. He has since established himself as one of the most impressive young midfielders on the planet and the numbers being mooted for his signature are obscure, but he has the talent to back it up.
The 20-year-old has played in all 19 league games for the current Italian champions and has scored five goals, as well as making 30 key passes.
Vidal has arguably been even more impressive over the last year and for me is the player they should be concentrating on. He is enertetic, he’s hungry and is always looking to create opportunities – he has 35 key passes and eight goals to his name this season.
But if they manage to get both? Wow. Their front six may look something like this:
Carrick
Vidal Pogba
Valencia Rooney Januzaj
And Robin van Persie isn’t even in that line up!
