With such a remarkable strike force and a high volume of players to choose from at the back, it seems such a shame that Manchester United’s midfield looks so poor this season. With Anderson making next to no impact, Marouane Fellaini not living up to his hype and Tom Cleverley, well, being Tom Cleverley, things need sprucing up a bit. Which is where this man could come in.
Marco Verratti is a player who I would go as far as saying is perfect for Manchester United. The 21-year-old joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and has sparkled on the big stage, making over 60 appearances in the season and a half he has been there.
This term he has made 16 appearances this season, two of which has been as a sub, and has averaged a whopping 86.3 passes per game. He has also proved his accuracy by completing over 91% of his general passes, while claiming four assists.
Verratti is a player who adds balance into any midfield he plays in and that is certainly something United need right now. He averages 2.6 tackles per game and has made 29 interceptions altogether, so he certainly has the defensive aspect intact, and he has proven on many occasions this season that he can contribute to the attacking phases.
Sign him up, David.
