Bacary Sagna is determined to run down the remainder of his contract and leave Arsenal on a free transfer, but it seems he wants to stay in the Premier League.
Reports suggest that the 31-year-old will look to join another big Premier League club for free, despite offers from abroad Galatasaray and interest from Inter Milan.
The two clubs that have reported interest are London rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, a move to either will definitely not sit well with the Arsenal fans.
Sagna is one of the longest serving members of this current Arsenal squad, since Wenger brought him to the Emirates from Auxerre in 2007 for an estimated fee of €11 million.
Since then he accumulated over 200 appearances for the Gunners and established himself as one of the best full-backs in the league, as well as earning the nickname “Mr Reliable” by the fans.
Despite all the accolades Sagna is yet to win anything in his eight years at Arsenal, which may change later this month in the FA Cup final against Hull City but perhaps he sees that as a good way to end his time with Arsenal.
Although, he has been a great and loyal servant to this club, I have no doubt in my mind that if he moves to either Chelsea or City, all his great service will be destroyed in the eyes of Arsenal fans.
It would be seen as a traitorous move, which would be a real disappointing way for Sagna to be remembered.
