Van Gaal’s £220m: FOUR Players That Manchester United Should Be Looking To Sign With Summer Kitty

With reports saying new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is set to be handed £220 million for summer transfers, here are four players he should be moving for.

1) Cesc Fabregas – Barcelona

After hearing that the former Arsenal midfielder is probably on his way out of the club, it got me thinking about where he would fit in if Manchester United went after his signature. He is an attacking player with experience in numerous positions and is one of the most creative players in Europe.

What’s not to love?

The Spaniard could be the more offensive player in a three man midfield.

2) Mats Hummels – Borussia Dortmund

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic leaving the club, it’s time United started a new era at the back. I would probably stick Phil Jones in and have a ball-playing centre-half to play alongside him, and they don’t come much more composed than Hummels.

He is a giant in the air and silky on the floor which makes him number one choice for me.

3) Koke – Atletico Madrid

Another creative midfielder now but one who is more comfortable in the wide areas than Fabregas. He has been deployed on both flanks this season, behind the striker and in a deeper role and would be ideal for United and their weak midfield.

He played 36 La Liga games and claimed 13 assists as well as scoring six goals.

4) Luke Shaw – Southampton

Shaw is a must-buy in my eyes as United need a long term successor to Patrice Evra. The France international hasn’t got long at Old Trafford and Shaw is only beginning his long, fruitful career.
