Liverpool and Manchester United are bitter rivals, so there will always be controversy should a player make the switch between the two clubs. The Metro are today linking Antonio Valencia, who plays for the latter, with a move to Anfield. But what could he offer the Reds?
The first thing you notice about Valencia is his strength and his power when running with the ball. His direct approach makes him a real danger to all full-backs because even when he looks tired or without an option, he can burst down the flank and leave you looking foolish.
He’s not the most technically-able player but he has the speed and delivery to make him a solid Premier League winger.
He could help Liverpool’s plan B after Brendan Rodgers signed Rickie Lambert, as he could simply get into the danger areas and whip balls to the England international’s head.
The 28-year-old has just one more year on his current United contract and with a new boss coming into Old Trafford in the shape of Louis van Gaal, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Ecudor international made the jump. Especially as the Merseyside club are back in the Champions League.
Liverpool fans, would you accept him into your club?
