If Arsenal had another top striker at the club last season, I think they would have challenged the top two, Manchester City and Liverpool, for the Premier League title. As it was, the Gunners fell short and ended up clinging onto fourth spot and the Champions League football that comes with that. One man who would have certainly helped them in their quest to the top, is Karim Benzema of Real Madrid.
The France international is currently impressing at the World Cup in Brazil and has been linked with a move to the Emirates for some time now, and in my opinion should be Arsenal’s number one target this summer.
Not only would he bring goals to north London – he scored 24 last season for Real Madrid and has already bagged three goals in two games for France in the World Cup.
To accommodate Benzema’s potential arrival, I would let Nicklas Bendtner leave the club on a free as his contract expires this summer, and move Lukas Podolski into a central striker position.
The Germany international has the pace, the natural ability in front of goal and most importantly the proven record as a striker.
Podolski has scored 28 goals in 69 appearances for the Gunners, primarily from the left flank.
In short, I would let Bendtner leave the club, move for Karim Benzema and stick Podolski in a central position. Arsenal fans, what do you reckon?
