The Gunners will certainly be trying to bolster their entire squad as they look to improve upon their position in the league and continue to win trophies. It has started with a departure of a key player who goes by the name of Bacary Sagna. Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano have also left the club. All that remains is for the rest of the ‘deadwood’ to go and for Arsene Wenger to bring in some quality players.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the striker department at Arsenal as it looks like it could see a couple of new faces. There have been many players linked with moves, including Mario Balotelli, Loic Remy, Josip Drmic and Karim Benzema to name a few. It seems like Arsene Wenger wants a solid trio of strikers that can score goals consistently. He is set to keep Olivier Giroud, but is hoping to add competition for his position. The Express have linked Javier Hernandez of Manchester United with a move to Arsenal after the player blasted the club for a ‘lack of faith’.
As an Arsenal fan, it has been refreshing seeing the Gunners linked with names such as Balotelli and Benzema, as well as moves for players like Remy and Drmic. The former are two would be expensive whilst the latter two are underrated. The expensive would be destined to take the place of Giroud in the starting lineup while the underrated would be used effectively from the bench or in another position.
For me, if Arsenal do sign Hernandez, he definitely shouldn’t be brought in to start. I’m not so sure he is the man that can lead the Gunners into a better title challenge, as he would have to occupy a role beneath a big-name striker if Arsenal are serious about their ambitions. Hernandez is an ‘off-the-bench’ type of player and he has been known to score crucial goals with that tag.
For argument’s sake, a strikeforce of Balotelli, Giroud and Joel Campbell looks like something to be fearful of. A trio of Hernandez, Giroud and Campbell does not.
