Luis Suarez could be leaving Liverpool. Although this is a rumour we also heard around 12 months ago, more controversy has fuelled the latest predictions of his departure.
The Uruguayan’s summer started in impressive fashion as he scored twice in his country’s 2-1 victory over England. The next match saw him involved in one of the most talked about incidents of the year. After biting an opponent, something the forward had done and been punished for twice previously, Suarez was banned from all football activity for four months.
Sceptics have linked the actions with the player attempting to force his way out of Anfield, but the Guardian have reported that the biggest factor in determining the Liverpool striker’s future is money. Barcelona are said to want the Uruguayan, which comes as no surprise after he enjoyed such a prolific season for the Reds last season. Although there have also been reports to the contrary, many believe that Suarez himself is also keen on joining the Catalan side.
Representatives from both clubs allegedly met in London over the last couple of days. Any deal that takes place is likely to be far from simple and negotiations could well go on for a while.
Luis Suarez has proven what he can do with a football, with the amount of goals he has scored in his career a sign of the legend he could be. What he needs to do now is behave like a sportsman and show respect to his club, whoever that may be by September.
