Having spent last season on loan at Derby in the Championship, Liverpool youngster Andre Wisdom is set to continue playing his football in the Midlands but at a higher level. According to Sky Sports, the defender will join West Brom for the upcoming season, with the Reds hoping he will be able to gain vital Premier League experience with Alan Irvine’s side.
Only turning 21 in May, Wisdom has already featured 22 times for his parent club in all competitions, as well as representing England at various youth levels. He was a regular starter for the promotion-chasing Rams last year, whose campaign ultimately ended with the disappointment of a play-off final defeat.
Having been deployed at both right-back and centre-back in his career thus far, Wisdom’s versatility gives him an added chance of being a top defender in the future. Possessing great strength and no shortage of pace, he also has two of the most sought-after physical attributes any player can have. The high intensity of the Premier League makes these especially significant when teams scout potential signings.
A season to learn what England’s top flight is really all about could do Wisdom a world of good. When he returns to Anfield, though, Brendan Rodgers should expect the defender to be eyeing a place in the Red’s backline.
