Liverpool’s busy transfer window is set to continue as the Reds look to add further firepower in order to enhance their squad. According to reports from the much trusted and reliable Gianluca Di Marzio website, the Anfield side are very much interested in Argentina’s Wold Cup hero Sergio Romero as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in the shot stopper to give more competition to his number one choice Simon Mignolet. Though Australian Brad Jones has been ever present in the Reds’ squad for a significant period of time, it might be true that Rodgers doesn’t have enough faith in the 32 year old and now wants an upgrade and Romero fits the bill perfectly.
The 27 year old Argentina won hearts all around the world after his sensational penalty shoot out heroices in the World Cup semi final against Holland which enabled the La Albiveleste to progress through to the finals where they were in fact beaten by eventual winners Germany at the Maracana.
The reason that the Reds are confident to sign the player is due to the fact that Romero’ agent is Mino Raiola, the latter who is also the agent of Mario Balotelli, the controversial Italian who joined the Reds last week. It is believed that Raiola is working on the transfer for his client and an agreement is set to be reached in the coming hours.
However adding twist to the tale is the report from Gazzetta Dello Sport who however have claimed that Manchester United have also asked Sampdoria about a possible transfer as Louis Van Gaal looks for a back up to David De Gea. Europa league winner Sevilla re also interested as it is reported that Romero is unwanted at the Italian club after he had spent the earlier season on loan to French side Monaco.
