Manchester United fans hold on to your breath. If reports from Dutch website Soccer News are set to be believed than Robin Van Persie could be on the verge of leaving the Red Devils in the summer. Van Persie has clearly struggled this season and no longer has abilities for which United signed him from Arsenal while Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge. The 31 year old is also on massive wages with a hefty sum of 250k-a-week at Old Trafford.
The report claims that Turkish side Fenerbache are interested in Van Persie and could make a move for the player. Negotiations have almost started and the Turks are willing to offer an enticing package to Van Persie. the striker clearly understands that United won’t be willing hsi hefty wages beyond the summer if they don’t qualify for the Champions League this season.
Moreover with Radamel Falcao’s permanent deal close to completion, Louis Van Gaal wouldn’t want to waste his wage structure and rather give young striker James Wilson a chance to show his talent. Moreover, Wayne Rooney can also play just off the main striker which means that United can play an extra midfielder to hold control. All of these hint towards Van Persie’s exit at old Trafford. The Dutchman though has shown his true class ever since joining United, helping them to the title in his first season with the club.
However, Ferguson’s retirement clearly has made an impact on his game, but he still finished with goals last season during the treacherous reign of David Moyes. RVP also had a stunning World Cup as he led Holland to the semi finals of the grand tournament. This season, he only has shown glimpses of his true self and has struggled to make an impression.
