As Chelsea are set to host London rivals Tottenham tonight, there is some good news for the Blues faithful. According to English Media Outlet DAILY EXPRESS, Jose Mourinho has dropped massive hint that captain John Terry could extend his stay at the club. Terry, 33, who is near the twilight of illustrious club career had earlier signed a one year contract extension this summer. It was believed that this would be his last season before a coaching stint with the club but it now appears that the player is set to sign another contract extension.
Mourinho is his press conference said, “It’s not time to speak about it, but he knows what I think.” There is no doubt that Terry has been integral to Chelsea’s superb start this season having featured in all games missing out on none. Together with Gary Cahill, he has been a rock as Chelsea’s defense continue to look strong and impenetrable.
Should Terry sign a contract extension soon, Mourinho could also not have to look elsewhere for a centre back. He has been linked with French youngster Rapahael Varane who is seemingly unsettled at the Spanish capital. Mourinho admiration for Varane is known having claimed the player as the best young defender in the world. The Blues have Kurt Zoum in their ranks who is also thought to be a long term replacement for Terry.
Chelsea dropped crucial points against Sunderland last weekend, looking tired and will now be without Diego Costa as they take on Spur tonight. They are ahead of second placed Manchester City by 6 points at the top of the table.
