Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez as the Argentine is set to join Valencia in a deal worth £20m according to reports in DAILY EXPRESS. The hard working star was linked with United ever since the World Cup and Louis Van Gaal was interested to bring him at Old Trafford thanks to his hard-working abilities but will now have to look elsewhere in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Devils were in pole position to land Perez after Valencia refused to meet his £23m release clause, but it now appears that Benfica have agreed to sell the player at a much lower price. Goal have quoted Valencia’s official site saying, “Valencia Club de Futbol and SL Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Enzo Nicolas Perez, on a permanent deal that will be made official on January 2nd, 2015. The move is subject to the player passing a medical. “The Argentinian international will arrive at Manises-Valencia airport at 11.25pm local time and will undergo a medical tomorrow under the supervision of the Valencia Club de Fútbol medical team.”
United however have been linked with quality defenders for the January transfer window. Van Gaal is ready to add players in his already impressive squad for a strong finish in the second half of the season.
