There is something special about the Champions League. The theme tune which we all sing along to, the atmosphere that bellows above any league competition with ease, and the intriguing clash of cultures under the floodlights.

Liverpool – A team steeped in history and success. A club with so much pride and self belief that the moment you enter the turnstiles at Anfield you can feel the atmosphere smack you in the face. A club with strong traditions and belief, a club with rich ambition and club with many tales to tell.

Manchester United – A club hated by fans far and wide, but loved by many more. The Red Devils have been the main force in English football for some time now, after snatching the glory from fierce rivals Liverpool, and look to reclaim their league trophy from Manchester City this season.

These days Chelsea are looked upon with much hatred and jealousy because of the amount of money their mega-rich owner Roman Abramovic has thrown at the club. The millions of pounds that he has pumped into the club was, and still is to some, seen as the start of the end for football. The enormous wages, the humongous transfer fees and the ruthlessness of stealing players with the lure of the money has given the club a bad name.

There is always going to be that one player that fans take a disliking to and hurl at abuse at in every match. For Liverpool fans it has been Gary Neville and everyone else associated with Manchester United, for Tottenham fans it has been Sol Campbell for crossing the divide all those years ago, and for Arsenal fans…Well, they hate everyone, don’t they?

A big debate in the common-day football what is and what isn’t a foul or a bookable offence, Manchester City‘s Vincent Kompany for example. We often see a player getting a straight red card, only for it to be rescinded a few days later because the governing board deem it not to be worthy of dismissal and a 3 game ban.
