Liverpool set to be beaten in pursuit of Champions League Legend

According to reports in English tabloid Mirror, Everton are holding talks with liverpool target Samuel Eto’o over a sensational deal to bring the Cameroon legend to Goodison Park. Liverpool have also been interested in bringing the former Barcelona and Inter Milan legend and GOAL had earlier reported that Eto’o was undergoing a medical in the Melwood training complex a couple of days ago.

It is believed that Eto’o was demanding £100,000 a week to join the Reds from Merseyside but manager Brendan Rodgers wasn’t inclined to pay the hefty salary to the 33 year old. Everton are really desperate to add a striker after they secured the services of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a permanent deal. But the wage demands of the former Chelsea striker will be a huge stumbling block.

Eto’o however has offers from the middle east specially in Qatar who have offered him a whopping salary of £7m per year. Eto’o however is believed to continue his playing career in England and despite Jose Mourinho earlier questioning his age, the striker believes that he still is good enough fro the highest echelons of European football. Eto’o came heavily down on the Portuguese claiming that the Chlesea manager was simply a puppet.

The main reason that Roberto Martinez wants to bring is Eto’o is probably down to the fact that the Toffees will feature in the Europa League which will need an immense squad depth if they are pursue their ambitions of finishing fourth in the Premier League this season.

The Toffes according to report are now in pole position to land the forward but the player will have to significantly cut down his hefty salary should he fins himself signing in the dotted lines in the Blue half of Merseyside.

ESPN however have come up with an astonishing story saying that should Liverpool fail to sign Mario Balotelli, they will go after Eto’o.
