Arsenal January Transfers: One German In, One German Out

According to the latest reports, Arsenal are preparing a sensational £32 million bid for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels.

Even though Arsenal already have  Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker as their main Central defenders, Wenger wants to strengthen the defense even further by adding Mats Hummels to the squad.

Mats Hummels has repeatedly insisted that  he wants to stay with Dortmund but recently, he admitted he may move to a club that plays a good brand of football.

Hummels said,

“If a club with a bigger reputation than Dortmund were to make a move, but I don’t like the way they play football, I wouldn’t even consider a move”

Arsenal will not have a slightest issue here as they are known for their beautiful one touch football. Arsenal are already building a good German base at Emirates with the likes of Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil playing their trade and good youngsters like Serge Gnabry and  Gedion Zelalem making a name for themselves at youth level. So, if this move happens, Hummels will have less troubles in settling down in a foreign league. Win-Win situation for both the player and the club.

While one German international is linked with a move to Emirates, another German is most likely to leave the North London club after openly admitting that he is unhappy at the club. We are talking about Lukas Podolski here.

After getting frustrated with lack of proper game-time, the Former FC Cologne star said,

“I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now,”

“Let’s see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I’m not happy with it, that’s clear.”
