Arsene Wenger is a trove of information. His knowledge about the beautiful game is amongst the best in the world and you can generally see that transpiring in press conferences.

Laurent Koscielny put in a man of the match performance against Marseille on Wednesday to help Arsenal leapfrog their French rivals to the top of the group. It was a performance of the highest quality from the Frenchman who is slowly but steadily endearing himself to the Arsenal faithful.

When armed with the task of putting together an article on former Gunner Philippe Senderos, it bewildered me as how despite spending 7 years in North London, ‘Swiss Tony’ doesn’t appear to have a great deal to show for it. This is by no means a criticism of Philippe, however, as it should be stated that while he only made 64 appearances, when called upon the Swiss defender always did his job quietly and professionally.

Francis Jeffers, an incredible talent, or was it just that he was young in-form and English and brought media attention to him that led to a big money move to Highbury?

In a sometimes shaky but generally very pleasing 2-1 victory over Sunderland on the weekend there were many good points we can bask in the glory of, the performances of keeper Wocjiech Szczesny and talismanic Robin van Persie in particular.

I swear Arsenal get a ridiculous amount of injuries to key players – as seen in the recent North London derby – with reliable right-back Bacary Sagna suffering a broken leg which will supposedly keep him out for around three months.

Arsenal spent over £50m this summer on seven new first team players. Most of them have been immediately thrust into the team and after seven games, we are starting to get a picture of how good these players can be.

As I watched Arsenal produce a dominant second half display against Sunderland, there were clear signs of improvement in a team that has had a horrific start to the season.
