Manchester United are already preparing their wonter ransfer window targets. According to British Media Outlet METRO, the Red Devils are ready to pounce on Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder for free in the winter transfer window. The Dutch midfield maestro will be a free agent in January and United are pushing hard to secure the player’s services.
Manager Louis Van Gaal rates Sneijder very highly and the 30 year old might be interested in the switch to Old Trafford after it appears that Galatasaray hasn’t payed the player’s impending wages for nearly three months now. It is also reckoned that the current situation activates a release clause in his contract, something the Turkish outfit would be helpless to stop.
Sneijder has been a United target for quite some time now but the Old Trafford outfit hasn’t been able to agree upon a fee for the player. In fact United are also willing to pay a significant high wage packet to attract the player’s services. Moreover Sneijder is well known by Van Gaal and would easily fit in United’s midfield. His passing ability and his ball distribution would also come in handy while retaining the shape off the ball.
Galatasaray were also recently found to breach UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. The Turkish side paid hefty sums to lure stars including Sneijder, Drogba and Roberto Mancini. But they have suffered in recent months. The club is currently in huge debt and are currently fourth in the Turkish league and only have one point from two matches in the Champions League. Sneijder can ask to leave the club anytime, thus it would be heard for United to turn down a player of his quality.
