Celtic regained top spot in SPL after a comfortable 3 – 1 win over Hibernian at Celtic Park. The prolific strike partnership of Stokes and Hooper paid dividends again for Neil Lennon’s side. Hooper bagged 2 goals and Stokes scored 1.
It took Celtic just 4 minutes to open the scoring after Hooper and Stokes linked up yet again this season and Anthony Stokes applied the finish. On the 19th minute Scott Brown was fouled in the box by Martin Scott and the ref pointed to the spot, Hooper stepped up and netted Celtic’s second. Celtic then scored their 3rd of the night after 39 minutes and Hooper was the man again to punish Hibs. Colin Calderwood’s side were maybe still licking their wounds after throwing away their lead late on in the Edinburgh derby at the weekend. Hibernian had a penalty of their own after 66 minutes when Charlie Mulgrew fouled Liam Miller in the area. Miller took the penalty himself and pulled one back for Hibs. It wasn’t enough though to stop the Hoops from regaining pole position in the SPL after a 24 hour absence.
