Manchester City host Everton

Manchester City host Everton in the Premierships early game on Saturday with City trying to get their league campaign back to winning ways. The recent history between the two clubs will count for little and despite City last winning a home fixture against Everton back on New Years Day 2007 they will be the favorites going in.

Midweek saw a heavily rotated City side easily dispose of Birmingham City to progress to the next round and although Everton also progressed, they did so aftre playing extra time and using a number of players that could start against City, Baines, Drenthe, Fellaini and Rodwell in particular played the whole 120 minutes. Even Tim Cahill, a second half substitute, still notched up 90 minutes.

David Moyes also heads into the tie with the loss of key players toward the end of the transfer window, although they are still currently ahead of rivals Liverpool with a game in hand in the EPL standings.

Now to City, and if they win on Saturday it will even up the all time results between all these two. After playing 156 times in the league City are one behind Everton with 58 wins to their 59. The other 39 obviously were draws.

I expect Mancini to rotate back to almost the same team that have started the season so well for him with Joe Hart to return in goal and Nasri and Silva also getting starts. However I would like to see a few changes with Kolo Toure coming in for Lescott, who really hasn’t the best couple of games recently.

My starting 11: Hart, Clichy, Kompany, Toure(K), Richards, Barry, Toure(Y),Nasri, Silva, Dzeko and Aguero.

Prediction: City 3-1
