He could hurt them tonight.
But if Arsenal have their way, Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze could be lining up for the Gunners come January.
The highly-rated 19 year-old will be facing Arsene Wenger’s men later this evening, in the hope of inspiring the Bundesliga champions to a crucial victory in their Champions League group match.
But with reports today stating Wenger’s interest in the young German will intensify over the coming months, perhaps this will not be Gotze’s last game at the Emirates for a while.
An extremely creative attacking midfielder, the teenager has gained wide recognition for his sensational performances over the past year and a half, and is attracting the attention of some of the world’s biggest sides.
Wenger is definitely a fan, and believes he would fit into the expansive style of play his team are famous for.
The only stumbling block could be a fee, with Dortmund certain to command a large amount for their talented talisman.
The Gunners are also not famous for their big spending, so there would need to be a lot of negotiating done to ensure they get their man.
If they could get Gotze though, he would provide welcome support for top-scorer and key-man Robin van Persie, both in assisting and scoring goals.
But for Wenger’s sake, he’ll be hoping he doesn’t show any of his ability tonight.
