The World And Premier League Teams Of 2011

Now that we’re into the New Year, it’s time to look back on the year that was 2011 and pick out the players that made the year their own.

@TacheyDelBosque@stiuge, and I have selected our best Premier League and World teams over the course of 2011. Do you agree with any of our line-up’s?

Here’s @TacheyDelBosque’s World XI of 2011:

                                Manuel Neuer

Dani Alves, Vincent Kompany, Thiago Silva, Alvaro Pereira

                David Silva, Xavi, Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi, Edinson Cavani, Robin van Persie

Here’s @stiuge’s World XI of 2011:

                          Iker Casillas

Dani Alves, Nemanja Vidic, Gerard Pique, Marcelo

        Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi, Cesc Fabregas

         Neymar, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney

Here’s my World XI of 2011:

                        Edwin Van der Sar

Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Vincent Kompany, Marcelo

Cristiano Ronaldo, Yaya Toure, Xavi, Nani

              Lionel Messi, Robin van Persie

Here’s @TacheyDelBosque’s Premier League XI of 2011:

                              Edwin Van der Sar

Phil Jones, Ledley King, Vincent Kompany, Jose Enrique

Nani, Yaya Toure, Scott Parker, David Silva, Matty Etherington

                                 Robin van Persie

Here’s @stiuge’s Premier League XI of 2011:

                                  Michel Vorm

Kyle Walker, Nemanja Vidic, Vincent Kompany, Leighton Baines

Nani, David Silva, Luka Modric, Juan Mata,

                         Sergio Aguero, Demba Ba

Here’s my Premier League XI of 2011:

                                                 Joe Hart

Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Phil Jones, Benoit Assou-Ekotto,

Nani, Yaya Toure, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale,

                                  Robin van Persie, Demba Ba

A quick note looking at those teams selected is that there isn’t one Chelsea player listed across those 6 teams which is an extraordinary statistic. It was nice to see Van der Sar get selected despite the Dutch keeper only playing in the first half of the calendar year.

Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany clearly was somebody who impressed the three of us alot with the Belgian only failing to make 1/6 sides listed there. The real wildcard selection came from @TacheyDelBosque who selected Stoke’s Etherington in the list…

..However the winger played a key part in Stoke’s charge to the FA Cup final and has started this season well as has Newcastle striker Ba who has carried where he left off with West Ham terrorising defences up and down the country.
